Jak

Portland, Oregon techno DJ, Producer and A&R, Jak, Jack Coleman and his label Subsensory are very much synonymous with Portland and the Northwest techno scene. It’s though his dedication and love towards his music that keeps him after his craft and makes him a mainstay for techno in the region by providing quality releases from himself, his label, his label mates, and helping to supply his home town with quality techno events such as Closer PDX.

Reminiscent of similar sounds DJ’d in and around Portland.. Jak’s sound can be at times punchy, funky and dynamic.  It seems Jak acknowledges this influence and adds to it, making the solid, more driving sounds of techno as his core elements. And what’s more, he is not set in one method, as he is always mixing up his approach and always trying to push himself one step further.  This combination generally lends a quality to his output that is hard, funky, technical,  and jackin’.

Jak has always had his own groove [winky face] but in the past few years, Jak has been garnering close attention to his own productions being supported by the likes of Carl Cox, and labels such as Slap Jaxx, Trapez, Torque, Fade, and Illegal Alien.. pointing to that fact that Jak has traveled far in his career, but will definitely travel much farther.
